Use:
This little spaniel, which still does a splendid job in duck eggs today. is a small, alert hunting and companion dog.
Looks:
Lively, two-tone dog with a nearly square physique. The length from the top of the shoulder to the ischial tubercle may be slightly longer than the height at the withers. The length of the head and bridge of the nose is about the same. Well feathered tail with head upright.The hair is medium length, slightly wavy or smooth and close fitting. Not too fine hair, well developed undercoat.
Character:Cheerful, but not noisy, very attuned to its environment, great adaptability. Friendly, benign, sensitive and intelligent.
Education:Requires a sensitive hand, consistency and empathy. It learns very quickly about positive motivation. Pressure or hardness disturb the Kooikerhondje.
Exercise:
An agile dog. Walks at least 1 hour a day without leash and 1x per week on the dog course are recommended.
Size:
Males 40 cm / females 38 cm (tolerance: 2 cm above or 3 cm below the ideal size are allowed)
Mass:9-14 kg, depending on the size of the dog
Health:Isolated cases of epilepsy, Kooikerparalysis - ENM (excluded in the DCK by genetic testing) and Patellar Luxation (PL). HD (hip dysplasia) is very rare. Recommended are ENM-Gentest, studies on PL and eye diseases.
Life expectancy:14-15 years
